Ted Lasso season 4 premiere date: Why the wait?

If you buy into a lot of the buzz that is happening online, Ted Lasso season 4 is poised to premiere at some point this year. As of right now, we do still tend to think that is the case! Apple TV is heavily invested in the show’s future, and it has already been a long time since the end of season 3.
However, what is proving quite challenging at this point is determining a proper launch window for it. Our initial hope was that we would be able to see it this spring, but there are some pretty tangible reasons to think that this is a little too soon to expect it.

What is the biggest one? Well, at this point it’s rather simple: The fact that season 4 is still in production overseas! Filming started with Jason Sudeikis and the cast this past summer, and there was some work done in America before shifting over to the UK. Even though this is a comedy, we learned from seasons 2-3 in particular that some of these episodes can be far longer than you expect. This is a series that takes a long time to make due in part to both that and the large number of characters, and we have to be patient with that in mind.
Because of all of this, our expectation now is that Ted Lasso could emerge at some point this summer, and that may actually be a great window for Apple TV, when you stop and think about it. This is a quieter time when it comes to sports-related programming, so maybe the fictional stories of Richmond could fill a void? Also, it could dominate a lot of attention in the event the show does get another weekly rollout.
