‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: A new side of Robin Hood

"Once Upon a Time" - CastWell, it seems as though there is going to be a recasting, after all, on the third season of “Once Upon a Time,” but it is at least not for a character that we have seen a substantial amount of over the years.

According to TVLine, the show’s hard-working producers are currently looking to find a new actor capable of taking on the role of Robin Hood for a multi-episode arc on the show’s third season. So why isn’t Tom Ellis coming back? Due to some other commitments, the “Merlin” star is simply not able to. It’s not an issue of them not liking him or anything of the sort; but given that his role on season 2 was so limited, the feeling must be that they can recast the role with less trouble than some of the others that have made a real mark on the show.

We have to be honest here: Is there a show with more cast troubles than this one? When you cast so many interesting roles with reasonably-familiar actors, these sort of things can happen. Sarah Bolger, Meghan Ory, and Jamie Chung are among the actors this season who will be limited thanks to another gigs. Heck, David Anders was limited this past season thanks to him landing a role on “Necessary Roughness,” and Sonequa Martin-Greene (Tamara) is now a regular on “The Walking Dead.” We have to hope that the folks responsible for the schedules here have pacemakers, since they are probably on the verge of a heart attack.

What’s your reaction to this news, and are you okay with seeing a different man taking on the Robin Hood character? In case you missed out on what the title for the season premiere was a little earlier in the day, all you have to do is click here.
