‘Breaking Bad’ season 5: AMC showing all episodes in theater prior to premiere
If you want to catch up on “Breaking Bad” leading up to the August 11 premiere, have a week of time to commit, and don’t want to do it in the comfort of your own home (which probably is a ton of prerequisites), we have the solution for you to enjoy as much Walter White-related content as humanly possible. Beginning on Friday, July 26 (or, in geek terms, the week after Comic-Con), the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City is going to start screening each season of the AMC hit at New York’s Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center. Season 1 will happen on the 26th, and each day will be a new season of varying length. The best part of this? It’s all free.
All of this will be building up to what is effectively the main event: On August 1 and 2 at the Walter Reade Theater, creator Vince Gilligan and many of the cast members, including Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, and Bob Odenkirk, will present some of their favorite episodes. As Deadline notes, this presentation will come right in the thick of Emmy voting season, meaning that it’s yet another way to point out all of the excellent work that these folks are doing.
“Breaking Bad” is planning what can be best described as a publicity blitz for the show beginning around the middle of July, and pushing straight on until the show’s premiere. They know that they will never have another opportunity to do this, and with that in mind, there seems to be no better time than now to go all-out to get the best ratings imaginable. It’s crazy to think that this was once a show that was struggling to stay on the air, and now it’s one that no one wants to see leave.
