‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Why did Desiree Hartsock send Juan Pablo Galavis home?

Juan PabloWhen we first saw Juan Pablo Galavis on “The Bachelorette,” there was easily one thought that entered our brain: This guy is going to go extremely far in the season. He’s Latin, athletic, good-looking, and it’s even fun to say his name out loud.

So what happened that caused him to suddenly fade from both Desiree and America’s collective memory? Really, the one thing to blame it on is Desiree’s choices and also the edit. He was never given a one-on-one date despite having some great moments with her, and the edit chose to not really reveal that he had a daughter for a good portion of the show. Ben Scott was forced to play the “single dad” role instead. Desiree Hartsock tried to explain herself in her People Magazine blog, which we feel personally fell on deaf ears since we’d like to see more of him rather than Michael Garofola, who is only notable here in that we watched him fight with Ben on that two-on-one date more than actually focusing on the romance:

“I couldn’t go further with Juan Pablo once I knew other relationships were stronger and that he had his daughter back home waiting for him. It wouldn’t be fair. Chemistry is a very strange thing that is either there or it isn’t. You guys didn’t get to see a lot of Juan Pablo. He is great and we had a strong physical connection, but could not get it to that next level. Some woman will be very lucky to end up with him.”

Yeah, we don’t think that Juan Pablo is going to have any problem at all finding someone to be with for the rest of his life. Sometimes on this show, it’s better to not get a huge edit if you are shown in a positive light when they do bother to focus on you. This is what happened with him, and he has to smile to a certain extent about it.

What do you think: Did Desiree make a mistake sending Juan Pablo home? If you want to watch a full preview for next week’s all-new episode of “The Bachelorette,” you can do so over at the link here.
