Mayor of Kingstown season 4 episode 2: Edie Falco on Hobbs

As we get more prepared to see Mayor of Kingstown season 4 episode 2 on Paramount+ this week, doesn’t it make sense to talk more about Hobbs?

Ultimately, one of the biggest coups moving into this season was getting Edie Falco on board. We don’t have to tell you how formidable of an actress she is so really, the question coming into things this season was just how she was going to react to Mike, and also how she is going to do what she can to operate the prison. You have to imagine that there are going to be at least a few shouting matches along the way, no?

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Falco herself did her part in establishing who her character is — alongside how she views the job:

“She’s a woman who’s been doing this job for as long as she can remember … She’s very good at it, and perhaps takes pride in that fact, but she knows she will always work, and then it is on to her next job. She’s showing up to do what she does — to straighten out a messy situation. In the beginning, she’s trying to feel out, ‘Who’s gonna be my biggest problem. Who can I lean on?’ She’s there to do a job she’s done many times before.”

Of course, the difference with this job comes mostly via the people, and we’ve seen that this is as gritty and complicated an environment as anyone has come across in quite some time. We really have a hard time imagining that this is going to be changing anytime soon. As a matter of fact, we tend to think that we’re going to see Hobbs encounter worse and worse issues as time goes on.
