With “Dexter”, “Ray Donovan,” and “Under the Dome” now going strong over on CBS, the summer is starting to really heat up when it comes to some of its drama programming. So with that, fans in Britain have another reason to celebrate now courtesy of the brand-new season of “Luther.” Idris Elba is going to be back in action Tuesday night on BBC One over in the United Kingdom, and we have a first look at Elba talking about his role below.
When it comes to one of the biggest challenges that he has taking on the Luther role time and time again, the actor claims that one of the hardest aspects is simply that he is “absorbing”.
“It’s one of those characters that I know really well. I love playing him, but he’s so absorbing that it’s hard to separate Idris from Luther while playing him.”
Elba also talks in the video about the arrival of a new character on the show that could turn into his arch-nemesis, and how this ends up ramping up the intensity to yet another level.
If you are new to “Luther,” we believe that the premiere should do a strong enough job still of telling you everything that you need to know to dive in without a problem. Of course, it does always help you to have seen everything that comes before, since you have a greater understanding of the individual characters’ ebb and flow.
The sad news here comes for viewers in America, as you’re not going to have an opportunity to see more of “Luther” season 3 until the show returns to BBC America on September 3, exactly three months away.
