‘Big Brother 15’ live feed spoilers: Talking Nick, Helen, and another take on controversy

Nick

What a weird, wacky few days it has been in the “Big Brother 15” house, and perhaps today is meant to be the time when the dust settles. Following Jeremy’s drunken fight last night and Aaryn going off on various people over a stupid hat, things are now starting to return to normal for what will likely be a quieter few days. David’s eviction seems reasonably set in stone, so there’s not too much of a reason to stress on that.

So instead, we want to offer up a few quick-hits on a pair of players that are doing a pretty good job right now in the house, but do have some things that they need to work on if they want to climb into final two territory based on what we are seeing.

Nick Uhas – When it comes to his manipulation and his alliance-making, there are elements of Dan Gheesling and Mike Boogie in Nick, and we already know how the two of them fared. However, there is still one other element to his game that needs some improvement: Showing more human emotion. The running joke in the house right now is that he a robotic and asexual, mostly because he has shown little reaction to the passes that GinaMarie has made at him. He may not want a showmance (and we support this decision), but he may have to loosen up a little bit for someone to want to take him to the end.

Helen Kim – Within her alliance, Helen has already established the reputation of being one of the house’s nicest people but, she needs to try a little harder to make inroads with some people who are not in her core group. Aaryn clearly hates her, and unless she tries to build relationships with some other people, she will be in trouble.

We do want to close here with something that we have complained about over the past few articles, and that is the rampant use of derogatory language in the house this season. This is hardly the first time that this has happened in the game, with Jeff Schroder’s Dumbledore rant being one of the more-infamous moments of someone facing scrutiny over offensive comments. However, this season you can look at Aaryn, Spencer, David, Amanda (regardless of if she’s being sarcastic), or a few others for examples of what is going on here. Season 12 contestant Ragan Fox has written a pretty fantastic essay imploring CBS to actually broadcast some of Aaryn’s horrible language, and he makes a great point when talking about her pageant-like exterior.

We know that producers have tried, at least since around season 4, to try not to bring too many hot-button issues into the episodes, but it is starting to get to a point where if you don’t include it, you are misrepresenting who she is a person. This was slightly problematic last season with Danielle given all of her “lies” that were not pointed out until Janelle Pierzina said so at the finale. If it impacts the game, it needs to be shown; and in this case, it clearly impacts the game since Aaryn’s comments are a reason for the vitriol towards her online; not only that, but America is voting on a twist this season where they reward players who are supposedly playing the best game. This is information that should not remain privy to just the live-feeders.

Now, we resume our regular programming. It is still a quiet morning in the house, and unless you want to watch Amanda and McCrae make out or people chill outside, there’s not much to see.
