Well, first and foremost, let’s note that this is the all-important finale. A lot of the loose ends from this season are going to be tied up, but who knows? It is worth noting here that the Seth Rogen – Rose Byrne series was approached this season as though there could be more, and this was a pretty significant change from how it was developed over the course of season 1.

One of the things that has always been refreshing about Platonic as a series is that there is a real emphasis that is placed on whether or not Will and Sylvia’s friendship can stand the test of time. The parameters are pretty specific and the producers are not eager to throw anything else at them. There is a sense of comfort that comes from knowing this and yet, also some real stakes at the same time. The two have a lot of fun around each other, but there are these self-destructive tendencies that they cannot escape from at the same time. That does add a layer of weight to everything that we see here.

Fingers crossed now that between now and the finale airing, we are actually going to learn what the future is going to hold.
