Dexter: Resurrection: Is Blessing the New York Ripper? EP chimes in

We know that there are a lot of theories out there when it comes to the New York Ripper on Dexter: Resurrection — but why not shut one down?
After all, for those of you who really felt like it could be Blessing Kamara, you are about to be disappointed. While the writers and producers have not commented on a lot of various theories out there, executive Scott Reynolds was happy to shut this one down — and for good reason. Blessing has his fair share of darkness due to his past, but this is someone who is actively willing to get past it. Also, this is someone who actually felt for a while like a genuine friend to Dexter Morgan … though that has since fallen apart to a certain extent.

Speaking in a new edition of the Final Cut aftershow (watch here), Reynolds explained why the choice was made to not make Blessing into the Ripper:
“There’s a lot of folks that were saying Blessing is the New York Ripper. Which I’m like, no, not a chance. That’d be so crazy if everybody Dexter wanders into is a serial killer. I love that the fans are so involved with it that they’re thinking [constantly about] what’s going to happen next…”
We do think that there are still a lot of other names in play for the Ripper, whether it be Claudette’s partner, Jonah Mitchell, or someone we have yet to meet at all. Our general sentiment is that this character could serve as the Big Bad for season 2, which would be fun given that this is not something that is often set up in seasons prior for this franchise.
