‘Mad Men’ season 7 spoilers: Matthew Weiner already has ending in mind
As excited as you may be about season 6 of “Mad Men” having a hopefully-epic conclusion on Sunday night, there is one question that is going to start burning a massive hole in our skull the moment it ends: How is Matthew Weiner going to wrap this show up? Next year will mark the show’s final season, and there is a great deal of unattended business to figure out, from the state of SC&P to relationships to Don Draper finally figuring out what he actually wants out of life (that is, if he can figure it out at all).
While you’re never going to pry an answer out of this prolific showrunner’s brain (he has only really spoiled one thing this entire season, and that is in response to conspiracy theories about him killing characters off), Weiner did tell The Wrap that this is an ending that he figured out some time ago, and he has no plans at all to deviate from it:
“I sort of figured out what I wanted to do about two seasons ago now, and I’m gonna stick to it. You’ll have to trust me when I get there that I thought of it a long time ago.”
Weiner says that he has already heard all sorts of crazy theories about how the show will end, but given his creativity, we imagine that he will not borrow from any others that are already out there. Don’t therefore expect a sudden black-screen moment, or the characters all hanging out in a retirement home in the present day.
How do you think “Mad Men” will come to a close? If you want to check out some more news related to speculation regarding the season 6 finale entitled “In Care Of,” be sure to hit up the link here.
