‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Should we expect less Damian Lewis?
Is Damian Lewis really going to be a lead actor on “Homeland” season 3? While he could still submit as one with the Emmys (mostly because, hello Freddie Highmore, that process can be totally weird), it’s starting to look more and more like his Nicholas Brody character is going to be a smaller piece of the puzzle in the near future.
When you think about it, it also makes a great deal of sense. For more on that, just check out what Alex Gansa had to say in a recent article with the Los Angeles Times, who is interviewing many big names in television during what is the key Emmy voting process:
“He is the most wanted man on the planet. By definition, he’s going to be hiding somewhere. And if he’s hiding, that limits what he can do … There was still more story to tell between Carrie [Claire Danes] and Brody. I have no regrets about that. We’ll always sacrifice a degree of believability in order to put two characters together in a dramatic way.”
With this comment, Gansa seems to be addressing some of the criticism out there that “Homeland” season 2 was marred in part by some believing that the show stretched the truth when it came to Brody staying alive, and Carrie still having feelings for him. However, separating the two characters is good in a way, since it does allow for an opportunity for some of these feelings between the two to diminish, and for Carrie to potentially go into things with a clearer head.
What’s your take on the Brody issue: Do you think that it was a good thing for the character to be left alive? If you want to check out some more news on the show’s future, all you have to do is click here.
