ABC’s ‘Mistresses’ season 1, episode 3 review: Savannah gets a surprise

MistressesWe were hoping that “Mistresses” was going to give Josslyn something to do other then just the same old tired story lines we’ve already seen Samantha on “Sex and the City” and Jessa on “Girls” do time and time again and it looks like the ABC gods have answered our prayers.  And with that let’s get into this week’s episode.

Josslyn: When she learns that her boss has been fired after a new man, Olivier, has bought out the company she thinks that she can use her charm to get information out of him, but is shocked to learn that he’s not that easy of a nut to crack. He invites her out to dinner and she think she’s finally got the drop on him, but he tells her that he’s taking some of her properties from her and redistributing them to the staff… also others from the office were invited to the dinner as well. In an attempt to win over her boss she throws a huge party in a bizarre property that won’t sell. The night is a huge success and she gets three offers on the property and Olivier is pleased by her effort.

Karen: She finds out that Sam has dropped out of college and is moving into the old apartment that she shared with Tom. Karen goes to his old apartment to make sure that any evidence of her being there is removed, but when Sam comes home she runs out leaving her sunglasses behind. Realizing how much she misses having a life outside of Tom she invites her co-worker to Josslyn’s house selling party, but when she receives a call from Sam saying that he’s in the hospital from a drinking and driving accident she rushes out to help him. He tells her that he returned the women’s sunglasses to his mom only to learn they weren’t hers and now she knows Tom was cheating on her.

Savannah: She has been going into work late and spending as much time at home with her husband as possible as she tries to avoid the mistake she made with Dominic, but she can’t avoid it forever and when he tells her that she’s going to have to do a lot of late nights to get ready for a case she looks terrified. She goes to her boss and asks to be removed from the case with Dominic, but instead he removes Dominic and he’s pissed. She later learns that she’s pregnant, but is it Harry’s or Dominic’s baby?

April: She has now stood Richard up twice and even though she tried to explain what happened (being vague, but revealing that she’s dealing with issues from her dead husband and the past), and Richard isn’t interested in getting involved with all of that drama since he feels she still has unresolved issues.
