‘Dexter’ season 8: What past stars attended show’s premiere party?

DexterAre you happy to celebrate “Dexter”? The folks over at Showtime sure are. As sad as we may be about the series coming to a close after eight years, it had itself a rather remarkable run. There’s really nothing to be sad about since the show is really getting the opportunity to go out a winner, and with most of its viewers supporting the series again after a few bumps in the road.

As you would expect, all of the show’s primary cast members stepped out over the weekend to speak with reporters and take photos at a venue that had such goodies as bloody snacks and treats, an appearance from Dexter’s boat Slice of Life, and a photo wall showing some of the killer’s most-notable villains. One of them just so happened to be in attendance in John Lithgow, who won an Emmy for his role as the Trinity Killer in season 4. Another villain of sorts was Lila, and Jaime Murray also made an appearance.

The other major star from the past to turn up at the premiere was Julie Benz, who was a key player really throughout the entire first half of the series’ run. The only major omissions in here were perhaps Dexter’s children, and also some other major villains like Jimmy Smits, Colin Hanks, or Jonny Lee Miller. (Granted, these three are all very busy men.)

What will be interesting this season is seeing how many callbacks to the past that producers are going to really be able to cram in. We’re sure that it would be nice to have more of Astor and Cody for example, but will there be time to address them? We already know that Julia Stiles is getting the shaft, and while Yvonne Strahovski is returning for more as Hannah McKay, we don’t quite know how long she will be around or really what story is left to tell with her character.

If you missed our recent “Dexter” spin-off talk, it’s an interesting one, and we would love to see where your opinion lies on the issue over at the link here.
