2013 Tony Awards: Neil Patrick Harris’ ‘How I Met Your Mother’ co-star shares the love
Isn’t it nice to know that even when they are not filming “How I Met Your Mother” together, the cast is still incredibly kind and supportive of one another? We like to think so, especially after an event as nerve-wrecking as hosting the Tony Awards.
This morning, Neil Patrick Harris’ co-star (and on-screen love interest) Cobie Smulders tweeted out a two-word description of the show using a classic Barney Stinson catchphrase: “Nailed it!”. We ultimately have to agree, as there is a reason that this is the fourth time that Neil has hosted the show for CBS. There’s also a reason why they are hiring him to also host the Emmys a little bit later in the year: The man is really good it it.
Neil’s fellow co-star Josh Radnor (Ted) also supported him before the show even began, retweeting a message from Harris encouraging people to check out the show this year. When you spend over eight years together working on just one show, it’s pretty fair to say that you have a lot of time to really get to know each other. Suffice it to say, that has definitely happened here when it comes to this cast.
The ratings also seem to support the notion that the show is better with Neil as the host. After last year’s all-time low, it improved 20% in the 18-49 demographic up to a 1.2 in the preliminary numbers. That is still low by most TV standards, but with over 7 million viewers, it is pretty clear that the real issue with the Tonys from a network point of view is simply that they skew to a much older audience (much like some of CBS’ drama programming).
If you want to hear Neil speak out a little bit himself on “How I Met Your Mother” season 9, you don’t have to look any further than the link here.
