‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 notes: Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev

Even though “The Vampire Diaries” may not even be filming new episodes right now, that isn’t stopping us from talking a little bit about what some of the stars are up to on what is a very busy weekend around the globe.

If you want to get a sense of just how many miles separate some of these people, know this: While Nina Dobrev is still in Atlanta filming hew new movie “Let’s Be Cops,” Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, David Anders, and a certain birthday girl in Torrey DeVitto are all in Germany, where they are doing a new fan event for some diehard “Vampire Diaries” supporters in the country. Even though all of these actors are busy with a variety of other pursuits these days (including separate show gigs for both Anders and DeVitto), they’ve still made some time to travel the world and give back to their fans. (Not only that, but Anders hilariously signed an autograph for Paul.)

As for Nina, she is in the process of trying to make it through the rigorous “Let’s Be Cops” filming schedule in Atlanta, which apparently makes you extremely tired. She posted a photo on her WhoSay page of her “falling asleep” along with her co-star Jake Johnson (otherwise known as Nick on “New Girl”). There’s actually a little bit of a “New Girl” reunion going on in Atlanta, right now, with Johnson working on this movie alongside a man in Damon Wayans Jr. who originally did the “New Girl” pilot years ago.

The entire “Vampire Diaries” cast will be back in the United States next month, and for a number of reasons: There will be Comic-Con in Los Angeles, and also filming for the fifth season in Atlanta.
