2013 CMT Music Awards: Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line among winners
The 2013 CMT Music Awards are currently airing on the country-music channel, and the goal is to recognize some of the best when it comes to a genre that is among one of the most popular in all of America. Are there too many country awards shows out there? Without a doubt, but at least this one does try to differentiate itself somewhat by putting the focus more on music videos than anything else.
We’re going to have updates on our winners’ list throughout the evening, so be sure to keep checking back for more of who is victorious, and whether or not they were deserving.
Breakthrough Video of the Year – Florida Georgia Line, “Cruise.” Given that this song has become a hit on even the Top 40 chart, it seems appropriate to give it this award.
CMT Performance of the Year – Miranda Lambert, “Over You.” Surprised? Don’t be. This is the song that pretty much wins every award known to man.
Collaborative Video of the Year – Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and Eric Church, “That’s the Only Way I Know.” Predictable, but a smart choice.
Duo Video of the Year – Florida Georgia Line, “Cruise.” As we said earlier, did you really think that this would go to someone else?
Female Video of the Year – Miranda Lambert, “Mama’s Broken Heart.” Miranda has won yet again, and this is a category she has dominated in recent years.
Group Video of the Year – Lady Antebellum, “Downton.” How many awards do these three really have at this point? Can they even count all of them? We have no idea.
Male Video of the Year – Blake Shelton, “Sure Be Cool if You Did.” Blake wasn’t there, so Miranda Lambert accepted on her husband’s behalf.
Video of the Year – Carrie Underwood, “Blown Away.” Not much of a surprise here, but given that it was the best country-music video of the year, we cannot say that we are anything other than overjoyed for her.
What do you think about some of the winners and do you think that Taylor Swift was shafted? If you want to read about the massive “American Idol” presence at the awards show this year, all you have to do is click here.
