‘Best Ink’ season 2 finale: Watch a preview clip; plus, season 3 renewal news

Best InkWe have a pair of stories to celebrate here when it comes to Oxygen’s “Best Ink,” but let’s start things off with the breaking news: There are going to be many more tattoo competitions moving forward.

The network announced this week that not only is the series returning for a third season premiering this winter, but that all of the personalities involved in the show this spring, including host Pete Wentz and judges Joe Capobianco, Sabina Kelley, and Hannah Aitchison are all going to return for more. This marks a big step forward when it comes to the consistency of the show, which underwent a hosting change moving into the start of season 2.

While this means that there will continue to be two tattoo competitions on the show in between this and Spike’s “Ink Master,” “Best Ink” really found a voice this year by going for a slightly more inspirational angle rather than the gritty tone of its competition. Not only that, but many of the actual tattoo challenges were outside the box and revolved around new and revolutionary styles. Our only concern is that the tattooing world is small, so with two shows (and one of them running twice a year) we are fearful that we will run out of talent quickly.

The end of season 2 airs on Oxygen Wednesday night, and in the video below, you can see just what DJ Tambe, Teresa Sharpe, and Jerod Ray are going to be faced with for part of their final challenge: Tattooing skins that they have worked with before in the season. This is unique in that there is already a chemistry there, but the premise of the challenge is much more creative, which helps to run the risk of a skin not really getting something that they wanted.

Out of the contestants remaining, we still think that Teresa has had the winner’s edit and the history of great work needed in order to win, so she is our pick. With that being said, DJ has been a monster all season long, and Jerod’s probably a little too inconsistent to be considered.

What’s your take on the renewal, and who do you think will win? If you want to read some more “Best Ink”-related news, all you have to do is click here.
