Can an ‘Arrested Development’ season 5 happen? Netflix says it’s possible

Arrested DevelopmentWhile there are still no official sort of measurements released about the fourth season of “Arrested Development,” mostly because it is so hard to judge with a streaming service like Netflix in traditional means, it is still pretty hard to deny the pure pop-culture impact that the series has had over the course of the past few days. Thousands upon thousands of people have talked about binge-watching the show, recommending it to their friends, and really diving into the best of what the Bluth family have to offer.

Really, this is the perfect sort of show for Netflix to offer since it makes it easy for fans to watch so many of them consecutively, and it has the following enough to actually bring in new subscribers. With that in mind, it’s no surprise at all to see the network’s CEO Reed Hastings tell CNBC that there is some consideration to bring the show back for a season 5 if all parties are interested:

“Arrested is unique because that’s really up to the talent … If the talent were willing to do more… I’m sure we would be willing.”

We really do see this show living on, mostly because it is a rather nice gig for the cast. They like the characters and the stories, they get paid pretty handsomely, and since they are not involved really in every episode, there is a certain amount of schedule flexibility that comes with it. Basically, this is a model that networks should explore, at least via a production standpoint, if they want similar quality on some of their future shows.
