2013 Teen Choice Awards analysis: ‘Glee’s’ Lea Michele takes on ‘New Girl,’ ‘Big Bang Theory’

Teen ChoiceToday is our final day at looking at the comedy category for the Teen Choice Awards, and the focus this time around is on who some of the funniest ladies are this year. There is easily a clear favorite here, but we have to say as a whole that the entire roster is curious. Where’s Tina Fey? Amy Poehler? There’s also a rare example thrown in here of someone from a cable network getting a little bit of attention for a change.

If you want to have your voice heard for Choice TV: Comedy Actress  here at Cartermatt.com, that is precisely what the poll below is for. It may not be official, but it should give you an idea of where the votes could end up falling. For more updates on all things TCA, the link here should do the trick.

The nominees – Kaley Cuoco, “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS), Zooey Deschanel, “New Girl” (Fox), Mindy Kaling, “The Mindy Project” (Fox), Lea Michele, “Glee” (Fox), Bridgit Mendler, “Good Luck Charlie” (Disney Channel)

The favorite – It has to be Lea here by a mile. She’s a past winner in the category, is hugely popular with this audience, and “Glee” even airs on this same network. (For you conspiracy theorists out there, we’re sure that you will start batting your eyes at the host channel having 60% of the nominees here.) We’ll give second place to Zooey given that people do love “New Girl,” and “Good Luck Charlie” really is a bit of a wildcard. We don’t cover enough Disney Channel shows to really know what the fan-base is like.

Who should win – This one is a toughie. We are going to go with Kaley here, mostly because she embodies the character of Penny so well that the character could have been swallowed up by the rest of the cast if played by anyone else. Deschanel is a close second here, though, especially since “New Girl” came on so strong in season 2.

If you want to vote for the real Teen Choice Awards, the best way to do so is at the link here. The show airs on Fox Sunday, August 11.
