2013 Teen Choice Awards analysis: ‘Nikita’s’ Shane West vs. ‘Elementary’s’ Jonny Lee Miller

Ready for more action straight from the Teen Choice Awards? This time around, we are talking about the guys most likely to kick a butt and take plenty of names in the Choice TV: Action Actor category. Like we’ve said all week, we don’t think that this is the best year when it comes to competition in this category as some of the shows mentioned here are not really that popular with teens, and will probably get votes just because people recognize the names. There are still probably three people with a shot here, and it may depend on how much a small group of loyal fans cast their votes.

The nominees – Scott Caan, “Hawaii Five-0” (CBS), LL Cool J, “NCIS: Los Angeles” (CBS), Jonny Lee Miller, “Elementary” (CBS), Jesse Spencer, “Chicago Fire” (NBC), Shane West, “Nikita” (The CW)

The favorite – Right now, we’d say it is probably West, mostly because The CW tends to fare very well at this show. However, we would not put him as a slam-dunk the way we would “Nikita” as the entire series, since there is some name recognition here. LL Cool J could get some votes because he’s familiar, and Jonny Lee Miller may win because he’s … well, Sherlock Holmes (and completely amazing).

Who should win – While we’re pretty strictly “Nikita” in the other action categories, we’re going to go with Miller here, since he really carried “Elementary” on his back. Without his wit and his injecting of a human element onto this show, this series would have fallen as flat as a pancake. West would be our #2 here, followed by the underrated Jesse Spencer, who we will forever remember from “House” first and foremost.
