‘Melissa & Joey’ receives back order, season 4, and reaches ABC Family milestone

Melissa & JoeyIn this modern age of quick cancellations and shortened episode orders, getting yourself to 100 episodes is almost the equivalent of seeing a real live Chocobo running down main street. With that in mind, the producers behind the ABC Family hit “Melissa & Joey” have be feeling pretty great about themselves right now.

In a statement on Tuesday, the network announced that not only has the Melissa Joan Hart – Joey Lawrence series been given a back order, which brings its total to 20 episodes, but that there has also been a fourth season of just as many episodes ordered. With this in mind, the show becomes the first in ABC Family history to reach this prestigious milestone of the 100-episode plateau.

Of course the network wanted to say something about this achievement, so here is what Kate Juergens had to say about the renewal / order:

“One hundred episodes is a great accomplishment for any series and we are thrilled to give Melissa and Joey the opportunity to achieve this milestone, as they’ve delivered hundreds and hundreds of laughs over the seasons.”

One other great thing to remember here for fans is that there is no guarantee that this order will necessarily be the end of the show. Depending on what the ratings are for the series moving forward, it is possible that there could be even more episodes ordered. Right now, this show, coupled with “Pretty Little Liars” and to an extent “Switched at Birth,” are the anchors of a network that has blossomed in recent years.

In speaking of “Pretty Little Liars,” if you do want to read a little bit more about this flagship series, all you have to do is head on over to the link here.
