Do you love “The Vampire Diaries”? Let’s hope so, since like with the Choice TV: Actor Fantasy / Sci-Fi category, the field of actresses brings us more of the same. A good 40% of the nominees come from this show, and 80% of the group in total hails from The CW. Unfortunately, we don’t see this category being anywhere near as competitive as it is with the boys, with either of the Salvatore brothers potentially having to take on the likes of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki from “Supernatural.”
As with all of our other Teen Choice Awards articles, we want to hear from you! In addition to voting at the official site, we also have a poll below. You can look at all of our other Teen Choice Awards articles by heading on over to the link here.
The nominees – Katie Cassidy, “Arrow” (The CW), Nina Dobrev and Kat Graham, “The Vampire Diaries” (The CW), Ginnifer Goodwin, “Once Upon a Time” (ABC), Kristin Kreuk, “Beauty and the Beast” (The CW)
The favorite – As we said, this one is going to be Dobrev for sure. She’s the biggest name on the list, has the largest role (in that she plays two of them), and America is still in love with vampires. Even though we could see Graham getting some votes that would otherwise go to Dobrev, we have a pretty hard time imagining that it is going to be substantial enough to really end up turning the tide in a way that would not go to Nina at the end of the day.
Who should win -We could go with a trendy pick here, but there really is none. Dobrev did a great job this year, jumping between Elena and Katherine and trying to find ways to make them feel different. Heck, she practically has three characters this year, given that Elena without her humanity was very different than Elena with it. We’ve never been a huge fan of Goodwin’s Mary Margaret character, Katie Cassidy spent most of the season wandering around oblivious, and Kreuk probably needed to come on a little stronger earlier in the season to have a real shot at this.
The 2013 Teen Choice Awards air on Fox on Sunday, August 11.
