Comedy Central renews ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ for season 2
Amy Schumer fans, get ready to celebrate. Only one month after its premiere, Comedy Central has made the decision to renew “Inside Amy Schumer” for a second season. The comedienne herself confirmed the news in a post on Twitter, and really, this renewal hardly a surprise. The show debuted to an audience of 1.6 million viewers, which is the best launch that the network has had all year long. One of the major benefits that comes with this sort of early renewal is that it helps Schumer figure out what she wants to do with the series (which combines some standup with scripted bits) moving into the next batch of episodes.
Regardless of whether or not you are a fan of Schumer’s polarizing comedy, it’s always impressive to see a show picked up this early in its run. This really just goes to show the sort of effort that she has put into her career, and is proof in some way that you can have a successful career after reality TV if you put in the hard work. (Schumer was a former contestant on “Last Comic Standing,” and also ended up appearing on the “Reality Bites Back” spoof that Comedy Central did of various reality shows.)
Schumer has also been a frequent presence on the network’s most-recent celebrity roasts, and what we are curious about now is seeing whether or not her obligations to the show will limit her participation in future events. As we get closer to the summer, we are hopefully going to learn soon who will be getting roasted in front of a panel of celebrities and network comics.
