2013 Teen Choice Awards: The Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Paul Wesley battle
If you look across all of the nominations for the 2013 Teen Choice Awards, we don’t quite know if there is one that will be more hotly-contested among fans than this Choice TV Actor: Fantasy / Sci-Fi category. There are three massive fanbases at play, and past awards shows have proven that any one of them could really win given where fans decide to put their focus. It’s also the battle of The CW, so the network must really love that.
Good luck trying to pick a winner out of this bunch, but just as we choose our favorite in the article below, we’re asking you to do the same. Be sure to vote in our poll below, and also, leave your comments as to why. We also have a number of other Teen Choice Awards articles, which you can check out over at the link here.
The nominees – Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, “Supernatural” (The CW), Stephen Amell, “Arrow” (The CW), Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, “The Vampire Diaries”)
The favorite – going into this awards show on August 11, we’re going to say that Ian probably has momentum on his side and has to be considered the likely winner. He’s getting tons of press these days even away from “The Vampire Diaries,” and season 4 was big for him as he finally hooked up with Nina Dobrev’s Elena for the first time. One of the “Supernatural” guys could compete, but also look out for Stephen Amell as a darkhorse given that he’s not competing with anyone else from his show.
Who should win – We’re tempted to go with Stephen, but we ultimately have to throw our support behind Jensen Ackles. Dean’s had a heck of a season 8, in between the purgatory storyline, Benny, working alongside Misha Collins’ Castiel and Felicia Day’s Charlie, and the decisions that he made to protect Sam in the end. We wrote yesterday that “Supernatural” had a return to form at times this past season, and this is recognition of this very thing.

I think Jensen Ackles should win for being a consistently brilliant actor. All season long Jensen has delivered powerful performances. He’s not about one scene or one episode…Jensen Ackles has been incredible in every episode of season 8 of Supernatural. Looking over Supernatural as a series, Jensen Ackles has been amazing throughout EVERY season of Supernatural.

I completely agree that Jensen Ackles should win this year. He was rock-solid and stellar the entire season. His Purgatory storyline, PTSD, tough-as-nails start, work w/ guest stars throughout the season, and then showing a completely different side of himself the second half of s8 was all done flawlessly and showed his tremendous range. He really brought his A game this year.

Why did I waste my breath? I know Jensen’s going to with this. He wins everything. Yes, he did an amazing job and I’d never deny that, but I still say Jared deserves it every bit as much. The problem is, not enough people have joined me in saying so. :-(

Jensen has been amazing through out whole season! I agree that Jared did a good job in the finale but he had a better storyline for Sam than Jensen had, and yet Jensen managed to work so well with the script he was given. He deserves this award for all his work he has done in SPN over the last 8 yrs!

Jensen Ackles all the way. Talent, charisma, and magnetism. He’s awesome in everything he does. He definitely should win, he deserves it for all the hard work he’s done on SPN as well as being able to carry the show even from the sidelines.

I agree that it should be Jensen Ackles, for all the reasons you stated. Jensen has been great this season! He ran the range of scenes and emotions this season.

IA that Jensen Ackles should win. He has been consistently top notch in his role of Dean Winchester for the entire eight years he’s been on Supernatural. Even this year, when he was practically given a supporting role in the big overarching myth-arc sl of the season, he still elevated the material and made us sit up and take notice of Dean anyway; and the Purgatory sl highlighted his incredible range(they should have made this sl season-long, IMO). My fondest wish is that the writers of this show will put some real thought into a season-long story arc for Dean(and Jensen) in S9, and then follow through on it with a more satisfying resolution than the last time they did that for him-which was way back in S4 and 5. Jensen would have made an awesome warrior archangel, silly writers.

My vote goes to Jensen Ackles as well, though I do love me some Somerhalder. But Ackles doesn’t get the same kind of attention so he definitely deserves the accolades more.

Totally agree that Jensen Ackles should win. He was fantastic all through Season 8(in fact every season but as this is for this year:)). Bad ass hunter and caring friend and brother – from PTSD after fighting his way out of Purgatory to helping a new friend deal with her secret grief and everything in between, he knocked it out of the park.

My vote definitely goes to Jensen Ackles. He hit the purgatory stuff out of the park and it was such a wasted opportunity that we got so little out of it. But the main reason why I would vote for Jensen is how managed to spin straw into Gold. In the back half of the season Dean was actually given very little to do. Yet Jensen managed to keep Dean in the spotlight. He made the most out of the few opportunities he got once the trial storyline started. Who could forget that emotional scene with Benny or the scene in the crypt with Misha. Thats true talent.

Anyone who saw the season finale of Supernatural would say the winner should be Jared Padalecki. The man deserves an Emmy for his acting in that episode.

I thought he stole the final brothers’ scene out from under JP(who was given the flashier myth-arc sl, all to himself again, this season) with the many emotions he imbued in Dean so thoroughly within it-compassion, righteous anger and indignation, exasperation and desperation, all culminating in that paternal type of love that Dean exhibited for so many in his weird and off-beat little “family” of humans and supernatural beings this season.

Well I saw the season finale and I think the award (for the ENTIRE season) should go to Jensen Ackles.
