‘Doctor Who’ season 7 finale: Whispermen shine in added ‘The Name of the Doctor’ clip

WhispermenJust in case you desperately want two new minutes of “Doctor Who” footage to help to make the wait before the 50th anniversary special on November 23 all the more tolerable, we believe that the video below should very well suit your needs. This clip allows for a little bit of added insight into the world of the Whispermen, otherwise known as those creepy characters who were featured throughout “The Name of the Doctor,” finale to season 7 that aired last weekend.

So is there a reason why this prologue-of-sorts was not included? We’re guessing that is simply came down to time, and quite frankly, we really did not need it for the episode to work. There is something almost more terrifying about these characters with the mystery a little guarded until later on in the episode.

Will we someday see more of these villains? We never rule anything out on this show, given that messing with the very medium in which it exists seems to be the calling card. We certainly would not mind; while they do not have the rich history of the Cybermen, there is something still chilling about the way that they approach you slowly, and their voices alone are terrifying enough to be a significant sources of nightmares.

What do you think about this video, and are you glad in some way that this footage was cut in order to preserve some of the Whispermen’s sense of mystery? If you want to also check out another additional clip giving you some context on John Hurt’s The Doctor, just be sure to visit the link here.
