Billboard Music Awards 2013: Live stream the red carpet show
On Sunday night beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, we are going to have the opportunity to see some of the biggest stars in music in what is the first of several major awards shows this summer. Let’s try to put this in perspective, shall we? We have the Billboard Music Awards tonight, the MuchMusic Video Awards next month (for you Canadians out there), the Teen Choice Awards in August, and then the MTV Video Music Awards in September. Throw the BET Awards and CMT Awards (which are a little more specific) in there, and you have a chain of awards shows that don’t look to be stopping anytime soon.
We can’t really sit here and say that there are a number of Billboard Awards that we remember as particularly notable, but the show at least tries to do something different than just have Taylor Swift get excited over winning an award 20 times. There are some unique performances coming up tonight, and to go along with that, you have Tracy Morgan in his first major hosting gig since the end of “30 Rock.” Tracy continues an interesting trend of hosts on this show, mostly because we still remember Ken Jeong trying to do the job.
Some of the performers this year include Swift, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Christina Aguilera, Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne. It’s a pretty good roster of who is current in the music industry, but one concern we do have right now is just that the lineup really does not do anything to shake things up or bring us a new flavor.
If you don’t want to wait until the show actually begins to dive into the action, the video below will start streaming the red (or blue, as their are calling it) carpet pre-show at around 6:30 p.m. Eastern. We don’t know how many of the aforementioned stars will walk it, but we are sure some of them will at least make an appearance.
