‘American Idol’ season 13: Keith Urban addresses future; Nicki Minaj does not

American IdolThe “American Idol” judging panel has just wrapped up the current season, so being a part of the media it’s apparently our responsibility now to immediately try to hound them about whether or not they will return for more.

Here’s what we can tell you for sure: Randy Jackson is clearly gone, as the show gave him a tribute to some of his best moments over the course of the past twelve years (which apparently includes him being completely ridiculous and giving such “sage wisdom” as “in it to win it” a million times over). Mariah Carey is also surely done, since there’s no way that a show wants to give someone $18 million-plus to sit on a panel and give long-winded critiques that really don’t go anywhere. While Nicki Minaj was opinionated (which was awesome), we also think that the show wants a relatively clean slate of people who at least have some sort of reasonable chance at getting along in the future.

Finally, we turn to the mystery of Keith Urban. The country star did not rule out a return in speaking to reporters, and to be honest, he may have been a better judge this season than he got a chance to show. When you are surrounded by negativity, how can you really shine? The guy is likable, and him staying would mean that someone on the panel would at least know what they are doing next year.

Let’s ask you the question, mostly because you are the people that matter at the end of the day: Do you think that any of these judges should return to “American Idol” for more, or are we better off at this point starting with all fresh faces? If you want to read more on when Candice Glover’s debut album will come out, don’t worry: We have it for you here!
