‘Supernatural’ season 8: Scheduling for repeats leads to rampant speculation

SupernaturalWhat in the world is going to happen with “Supernatural” next fall? Let’s start this off with the good news. The series is officially going to be back for a ninth season, and they also have the distinction of doing so with Misha Collins as an appointed series regular.

However, this does not mean that the series is going to be staying behind “Arrow” for new episodes. The move to Wednesdays this year was facilitated seemingly in part by a desire to make sure that the new superhero drama became a success. Now that they know this to be the case, The CW could be pondering a move back to Fridays. After all, the network has decided to replace repeats of “Oh Sit!” airing on Fridays with reruns of Jared Padalecki and company.

So would this move likely hurt the “Supernatural” ratings? Definitely, but this may be a chance that executives are willing to take, since they already know that many fans will follow them to Fridays, and that the show is in the latter stages of its life on TV. The CW was lucky in many ways to have a self-starter of a hit in “Arrow,” and we don’t think they have that for the fall with any show other than “The Originals.” Thanks to that, it makes some sense to stick a new show on after “Arrow,” and then potentially either pair “Supernatural” with the final season of “Nikita” or something else entirely.

Ultimately, remember that no scheduling decisions have been made, and much of this for now is mere speculation.

Would you be upset if “Supernatural” moves back to Fridays, or do you actually prefer it to be at a time when there is not so much major competition on the other networks? If you want to read even more scoop revolving around Sam and Dean, be sure to check out the story over at the link here.
