‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’: NeNe Leakes receives wedding spin-off show

Kim Zolciak is not the only woman from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” to land a spin-off show all about preparing for an upcoming wedding; now, NeNe Leakes is doing the same thing that her newly-reconciled friend did on Bravo last year.

On Thursday, the cable network announced the launch of “I Dream of NeNe,” a new show that is going to revolve largely around the preparation of her upcoming nuptials to Gregg Leakes, the man that she was originally married to for 13 years prior to their first divorce back in 2011. At the time, the two were seemingly struggling more with her blossoming career as a reality star and an actress, but now they seem to be in a much better place and are ready to give marriage a second kick of the can.

There are going to be plenty of references to the flagship “Real Housewives of Atlanta” series here, as Cynthia Bailey and former recurring player Marlo Hampton are each going to be a part of her wedding party. In addition to that, it’s surely possible that Kim or someone else could end up actually attending the ceremony.

This show, which will premiere in the fall, did come around at the perfect time for NeNe: the future of her NBC series “The New Normal” is in doubt, and at best she is a recurring guest star on “Glee” for her role as swim coach Roz Washington. (She will actually be appearing during Thursday night’s new episode.) This is the series that has always been there for her, so it only makes sense that she would continue to have her relationship with Bravo go strong for a while longer.
