ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5: Show delays bomb-themed hour in wake of Boston attack

CastleWe were curious about how ABC was going to handle the fact that next week’s episode of “Castle” was set to be one themed all around Beckett (Stana Katic) being trapped on top of a bomb, but now we know: in light of recent events of Boston (and possibly even a huge explosion that rocked the town of West, Texas late Wednesday), reports are that the network has decided to swap out two of the upcoming episodes.

Basically, this installment (entitled “Still”) is going to air a week from Monday on April 29, whereas “The Squab and the Quill,” the episode originally set to air on the 29th, will be put on Monday. There is no change in when season 5 will end, and we presume that these two hours are standalone episodes to the extent that they can be changed out without there being little impact when it comes to story.

While we’re sure that there are some people out there interested in the “Still” storyline, since it should give us an even deeper insight into where the Castle / Beckett story is ultimately going to go, it is hard to argue against the belief that the network made the right decision here. It is better to be sensitive, especially in these times, than to air a work of fiction before people are ready to see it. The saddest part of this story is that there are events happening in the world right now that facilitate these sort of decisions being made.

Do you think that ABC is making the right move here? If you want to watch the video preview for “Still,” you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
