‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: Peter Dinklage talks reaction to fame

TyrionIt’s always fascinating to see how various actors react to suddenly finding huge success, and while Peter Dinklage certainly had plenty of acclaim and even awards recognition (go see “The Station Agent”) prior to his work on “Game of Thrones,” there is little questioning that he has entered a new stratosphere as far as his celebrity status goes. With that, of course, comes great benefits, including the opportunities to develop projects and create a better life for his wife and daughter.

However, there are also some disadvantages that go along with it. In a recent interview with Playboy, the actor explained that when it comes to getting a moment of privacy, his height really renders it impossible for him to get any in a public setting:

“Game of Thrones fans are the nicest people ever, but a thousand nice people coming at me gives me claustrophobia … I can’t wear a pair of sunglasses and pull my hat down and just disappear. I’m 4½ feet tall, so I sort of stand out.”

While this may seem like the sort of problem that some would scoff at he explained that actors have it “so hard,”  and for Dinklage we can’t imagine the guy can even go grocery shopping without getting stopped a few times along the way … let along go out to dinner and sit in a public place for hours with his wife or friends.

In the interview, Dinklage also laughed off the talk about him being a “Dwilf” (which should be an easy word for you to figure out), saying that most women still prefer men that are 6’2” and that he doesn’t buy into any of the hoopla around his appearance “for one second.”
