‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: The future of the Men of Letters

SupernaturalThe title above should in some ways feel counter-intuitive to many fans of “Supernatural.” After all, aren’t the Men of Letters really dead? In a physical sense, the answer is yes so long as we’re not talking about the now-famous Batcave setting; however; there is a little bit more to the story than that.

While Sam and Dean Winchester may not have physically been a part of the noted group, it is clear that there are connections between them and the original groups thanks largely to their time-traveling grandfather; and with that in mind, executive producer Jeremy Carver promises (per TVLine) that one of the stories coming up is going to very much revolve around this very thing:

“We will absolutely see the positive and negative effects of being legacies.”

Considering that we know for sure that a certain demoness is going to be returning to the show for the upcoming season 8 finale, it’s possible that she could be connected to this story in some way. This is the sort of series where almost nothing stays buried for long, and the beauty of this comes in that even though the Men of Letters storyline was largely contained within “As Time Goes By,” it will still remain a critical hour moving forward. The same goes for characters who have only made brief appearances for an episode or so. They still remain an integral part of the show’s overall mythology, and could return at any given time.

Speaking of which, be sure to check out the story here if you have not heard already about the return of a Sam “love interest” from all the way back in “Supernatural’s” first season.
