Ratings: ‘Nikita’ season 3 rises; ‘Happy Endings’ falls even further

NikitaNot only has ABC’s “Save Happy Endings” campaign failed pretty miserably in moving the show to Friday nights, we’re also now unsure if the comedy is even going to be able to find its way to USA based on some of its latest ratings.

After at least debuting last week in the 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. Eastern timeslots to a 1.1 and a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic, the comedy this time around brought in only an anemic 0.8 and 0.6. You can blame it being Friday night all you want, but the truth of the matter is that even “Last Man Standing” and “Malibu Country” were bringing in ratings close to twice this number on some occasions. The “Happy Endings” numbers may actually be making those serious, oddly enough, look even better.

On the flip side, good news for “Nikita” fans: the show bounced back yet again to a 0.4 rating last night. While this show doesn’t have a huge viewership, the people who do watch tend to stick around. Here’s something else that rather confuses us: the rumor mill earlier this week suggested that “Nikita” may get a shortened final season in the fall; but it seems to us right now that they’d be smart to just give it a full 22. Why? It’s doing just as well as either “The Carrie Diaries” or “90210” as of late in the demo, and it draws more total viewers overall despite airing on a pretty terrible night for new TV. (We also don’t understand why The CW canceled “Cult,” only to plug in a repeat of “The Carrie Diaries,” which is a show that may also be off the schedule by the end of the season.)

The only other news worth talking about is that by scoring below a 1.0 rating yet again, both “Fashion Star” and “Vegas” are dead. We all saw this coming, right?
