‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Scoop on Joseph Morgan, Phoebe Tonkin

For a time, we did not believe that we were going to end up seeing Phoebe Tonkin back on “The Vampire Diaries” until the backdoor pilot for “The Originals” ends up airing on April 25. However, that ended up changing courtesy of Hayley’s surprise hookup with Klaus on a recent episode, which showed a somewhat different side of the original hybrid than just a charmer with a history of killing people left and right.

But how is that moment going to play a role when Hayley returns to the show? TV Guide gives us some sort of a hint in saying that the two characters are going to be “connected” in some way following this move, but declines to really say just how that connection will really happen or what will come out of it. The only other clue? That whatever happens when it comes to this is going to upset Elijah, who is probably going to be spending much of his time on the new show trying to keep Klaus in line.

Ultimately, we are already feeling as though we are going to be seeing plenty of interesting stuff between all of these characters on the spin-off. The show is almost guaranteed to be picked up by The CW pending some sort of moment of temporary insanity, and with the ratings for “The Vampire Diaries” being at some points triple that of some of their other shows, we just don’t see the executives ditching this show. Even if the backdoor pilot is not an A+, there will still be some time for it to grow.
