‘Today Show’: Is Hoda Kotb considering moving on?

Today ShowOver the past several weeks, the vast majority of rumors related to “The Today Show” have been about whether or not Matt Lauer will be staying on the show long-term after some lower ratings have been posted as of late. However, some new reports coming in now suggest that there may be another host who is looking to try something a little bit different.

According to a new report coming in from Entertainment Weekly, Hoda Kotb, who co-hosts the show along with Kathie Lee Gifford in the first hour, is exploring some other possibilities away from the show. Does that mean that she is leaving? Not even remotely. These are the sort of things that happen pretty regularly in this business, and her exploring her options is not altogether proof that she is leaving. She may just trying to be saying what else is out there in the world.

With this in mind, the following quote from a source close to Hoda should not come as much of a surprise:

“Hoda loves her job at the Today show and adores everyone she works with on the show. Her contract is coming up and she’s just expanding relationships and having coffee with a few people.”

This news of course comes at a very tumultuous time in the network, as it was just announced formally that Jimmy Fallon is going to take over “The Tonight Show” beginning early next year. NBC has repeatedly denied that there are any other major changes imminent on the morning-show front.
