AMC re-brands itself in time for ‘Breaking Bad’ season 5, ‘Hell on Wheels’ campaigns

Something More Apparently, watching TV is no longer good enough; you need something more, and that something is AMC. We wonder who was the modern-day Don Draper who came up with this new concept, since it is both great and somehow confusing at the best time.

The best part of the “Something More” slogan? How it looks alongside a pretty version of the network’s logo. This is extremely sleek and classy, and it goes along well with the fact that this network producers some of the best content out of anyone out there. Just look at “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad,” or “The Killing.”

However, what is a bit more maddening at times in watching this new promo below (which debuted last night during “The Walking Dead” finale) is how all of AMC’s programming is basically a complete and total scatter-shoot, and one thing basically has very little to do with the next. This is why some shows, including “Comic Book Men,” really seem to be part of one of those “which one of these doesn’t belong?” games. Plus, the tone of “Breaking Bad” is different than that of “Mad Men,” and it’s almost odd transitioning from something goofy set in the modern day with Kevin Smith to a show like “Hell on Wheels” that is set more than a century ago.

Our complaints about the trailer’s content aside, it does serve as a pretty lovely reminder as to all of the great programming that this network has brought us both past and present. There are also some ambitious new series coming up, including “Low Winter Sun,” which they will probably attempt to launch at some point later this summer along with “Breaking Bad” to help get it off to a good start.
