‘American Idol’ notes: David Archuleta, Crystal Bowersox, Keith Urban

American IdolReady for some music? We’re going to be starting off this new edition of “American Idol” notes by focusing on this first and foremost, especially the latest music video from season 7 star David Archuleta.

First of all, can we give a massive round of applause to David’s team for this “Don’t Run Away” video? Even with the singer gone on a Mormon missing for the next year or so, they still found a way to craft a memorable video that felt artistic and true to who he is as an artist. David’s new album “No Matter How Far” has not been particularly easy for him to promote with him being gone for such a long span of time, but you can pick up a copy of it just by heading over to the link here. It’s a touching song, and it fits well on an album full of tracks that American audiences have unfortunately missed out on for the past couple of years.

Crystal performs on “Leno” – Finally, some news from “The Tonight Show” that does not involve whether or not Jay Leno is staying on the show. Instead, we have a new performance from Crystal Bowersox in promotion of her new album “All That For This” in stores today. This song is called “Movin’ On” if you haven’t heard it already, and it’s more evidence of the sort of talent that makes her probably the most underrated former contestant out there. Now, we just have to start begging Nigel Lythgoe and company to actually put her on a results show in the coming weeks.

Is Keith Urban staying? – The country star recently announced a rather extensive tour for this fall, but what is rather interesting about it is that there are some key chunks of dates left out during some of the months that “American Idol” is shooting. Does this mean that Keith is going to return as a judge for another season? Not necessarily, but he tells USA Today in a new interview that this is definitely something that he wants to have as an option in the weeks and months ahead:

“We haven’t confirmed anything, but we needed to leave some holes there, in case another season happens. If we do another season, those would be where the audition cities would go. But nothing’s confirmed at all.”
