‘Continuum’ season 2 lands premiere date on Syfy

ContinuumWhile we do at times wish that Syfy would start to pick up some more original series, we are pleased to see that they are extended their relationship with Canadian network Showcase by continuing to pick up some of the products. The latest example? Decided to bring the underrated “Continuum” back for a second season.

While the premiere date in America will still be quite a bit behind what we see from our friends north of the border, we have confirmed now that the series will be back in action beginning on Friday, June 7 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. It is a new night for the show, and while Fridays are never really considered to be the best timeslot ever, some networks such as Starz have over the years found a way to make them work when it comes to launching new programming.

While this series has not been a ratings smash for Syfy by any means, averaging 540,000 viewers per episode in the 18-49 demographic, it is still a decent performer that they don’t really have to cover any of the production costs for. With that in mind, it is easier to just bring in some affordable imports than having to take a major gamble on some of your own properties. Then again, they are launching a pretty big-budget project coming up on April 15 in “Defiance,” and you can actually watch the first 14 minutes of that by taking a look at the video below. (We’re going to have more coverage of that coming up.)
