‘American Idol’ season 12: Nicki Minaj says Candice Glover, Kree Harrison favorites
If only all TV personalities were as honest as Nicki Minaj was in an “American Idol” conference call on Monday, we’d be both in a happier and in a much more newsworthy place. After all, she compared one reporter to a string bean, said that there were no guys left who had a shot at winning, and refused to answer a question after a reporter mentioned her tardiness to one of the live shows.
In addition to that, she also gave a few interesting thoughts on some of the contestants who are clear standouts. In going along with what everyone else is thinking at the moment, the “Super Bass” singer specifically named three people as ones we should watch leading up to the finale in May:
“I would say … Kree [Harrison], Angie [Miller] and Candice [Glover]. I think that outside of their voices, they’ve won people over already, which I think is evident from what I see on twitter with my fans. Those three seem to have really really made an impact–not only with just a great voice that sounds like it already should be making albums–but for some reason [with} their personalities.”
Nicki was a little bit more vague when asked whether or not she would return to the show next year, which is something that was saw another famous singer in Jennifer Lopez do on one occasion before stepping down from the panel:
“I think people would rather be surprised. I like to save the mystery and the drama. I’d never give that away. I always say this–and I mean it from the bottom of my heart–the people behind the scenes at Idol have been a dream to work with, and I really really honestly mean that. Mike Darnell took a chance on me, nobody else understood it, they were like ‘Nicki who?’ He took a chance on me, he believed in me, his daughter and his wife believed in me. I’m just super grateful to have been given the opportunity.”
Keith Urban and Mariah Carey have also remained quiet about whether or not they would return for another year, but it should be made clear that neither of them has said no officially to such an idea.
