‘How I Met Your Mother’: What season 8 star has landed somewhere else?
If there is one thing that “How I Met Your Mother” is known for (save of course for being hilarious), it is having a pretty robust cast of supporting players who have stop by over the course of the past eight years. Many of them, whether it be Jennifer Morrison, Sarah Chalke, Kal Penn, or Becki Newton, have all gone on to book other pilots since.
So who is the latest to join the club? Think Ashley Williams! The actress, best known for playing Ted’s girlfriend Victoria on the first season (pictured) along with this current one, has landed a role on the ABC pilot entitled “Keep Calm and Karey On.” This potential series from 20th Century Fox TV stars Kelly Preston as a woman who is surrounded by all sorts of unbecoming people in her family, including drug dealers, thieves, and people who are just far too into themselves.
Williams will play in the pilot Penny, a self-involved woman who is an aspiring (but also delusional) singer-songwriter. In our head we like to picture a bad “American Idol” audition, but it’s hard to really say if that will be the case for her without having seen anything related to the show yet.
ABC could certainly have some room for new comedies, with “The Middle” and “Modern Family” being the only real locks on their schedule for renewal. “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” is already done, and while “Happy Endings” and “Malibu Country” are in danger, “Last Man Standing,” “The Neighbors,” and even to an extent “Suburgatory” are sitting on the bubble.
What do you think about this pilot casting, and do you think that “How I Met Your Mother” may be as good of a launching pad as there is out there for people looking to book new comedy gigs? ‘Malibu Country’ is in no danger. Fridays will stay intact.
