‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez, Adam Lambert, Phillip Phillips
For this Sunday “American Idol” notes, we’re going to start things off by bringing you even more continued coverage of Jessica Sanchez’s potential smash single “Tonight,” which as it turns out is almost equally catchy in acoustic form as it is with the full dance track.
Jessica recently sat down with Yahoo! Music for both a performance and an interview, and she showed off much more of her personality that the show ever gave her a chance to do last year. The one thing that we really take from this is how smart and level-headed she was: when asked about why she is recently dance music now after singing almost all ballads on the show last season, she explained that for a singing competition, she felt it best to show off her voice; considering that it got her all the way to second place, it’s hard to argue against the strategy.
Adam’s new Twitter party – In celebration of wrapping up his “We Are Glamily” tour this past week, Adam Lambert recently took a few questions on his social-networking page; and while most of them are not particularly newsworthy, we did find his answers about a pair of controversial artists to be pretty interesting.
On current “American Idol” judge Nicki Minaj – “[She’s] a character all right.”
On Miley Cyrus – “[She’s] cool. Met her in passing. Very on the level. Seems to be able to rise above the typical BS. Excited To hear her new music.”
Phillip Phillips working on new music – Finally, we thought we’d close with an interesting reminder from Phillip that even though he is currently basking in the success of his first album “The World From the Side of the Moon,” he is continually working on music from a future album.
Here’s what he had to say on the subject per Billboard:
“I’m always writing. It might be a bad song, but I’m always writing.”
Phillip did also add that his second disc will probably not come out until next year, as he is spending most of this year tour. He has a massive series of shows lined up alongside John Mayer, and he did just wrap up a stint with Matchbox 20.

At 31 is Justin Timberlake too old too. duh….I agree ADAM anywhere/anytime! New subject….Jessica seems really smart in pursuing dancing and acting. It seems the business is not just about hit records, but keeping yourself out there for more opportunities.

Trespassing was a huge disappointment, selling only 140k in the U.S. At 31, Lambert is too old to be a pop star if he already hasn’t made it.

I’ve watched all the videos of ADAM’s We Are Glamily Tour …. those people in Europe & Asia sure know a STAR when they see one & they sure know how to make him feel Special & Appreciated … unlike the ones in his own country … and I don’t mean just his fans. Can’t wait for future appearances & ADAM’s next Masterpiece album!!

Many winners of AI have been the opening act for other well known artists. BUT only Adam Lambert has had a solo tour after coming off AI in first year. Hope Jessica has great success she’s a talented singer and a sweet person.

Congratulations to Phillip Phillips for being chosen as the opening act for the John Mayer tour this summer. This is a big deal indeed.
