‘CSI’ renewed for season 14; Ted Danson inks new deal to star
To make this news even more official, there is also the following to report on: not only are Ted Danson and Elizabeth Shue going to each be returning as two of the leads, but original cast members George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Paul Guilfoyle and Robert David Hall will also be staying put (along with some more recent names). It’s amazing to really see five actors still be a part of this show after so many years, and this really serves as a testament to the network creating a positive work environment that makes actors want to stay put. (You can see this also with “NCIS,” which has largely the same cast it did in the beginning.)
In a statement, here is what the network’s programming head Nina Tassler had to say in confirming the news:
“CSI is synonymous with CBS, and we are so proud of the series’ creative and commercial legacy and its continued success on our Network. The writers and producers have done an amazing job evolving CSI, reinventing the show around an incredible leading man in Ted Danson, the acclaimed Elisabeth Shue and our beloved and talented core of original cast members.”
Here’s a fun fact: CBS also has five other non-news shows that have been around for more than ten years: “The Amazing Race,” “Survivor,” “NCIS,” and “Two and a Half Men.” “Criminal Minds” is getting close with its eighth season, and “How I Met Your Mother” looks to be saying goodbye with season 9 next year.
