‘American Idol’ notes: Carrie Underwood, Jessica Sanchez, Kris Allen

American Idol LogoFor those of you out there who are either night owls or (very) early birds, our “American Idol” notes today touches on a little bit of everything, from music to personal details to of course a performance on the results show Thursday night by none other than Jessica Sanchez.

Jessica is hard at work rehearsing for her live debut of “Tonight,” the lead single that she will be rocking out with Ne-Yo. There is no doubting that there is a ton of effort going into make this performance everything that it can be, and you get a brief sense of some of that just by a brief bit of her rehearsal here. This has to be one of the most nerve-wrecking experiences for the young star so far, since she is returning to the show that gave her an opportunity while at the same time hoping to prove herself as a solo artist.

Carrie’s new single is… – Now this is a surprise. We’ve loved the choices that Carrie Underwood has made for radio singles from “Blown Away” thus far, mostly because they have been the sort of raw, vulnerable songs that gets people excited about country music who don’t often even like country music.

So with that in mind, we were surprised to see “See You Again,” a track originally meant for “The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader,” announced as the newest track from the blown away album to hit the radio. It’s a song that is more faith-based than anything else from her album, and we see it being polarizing. Some will love it, while others will likely think of it as cheesy. It all depends on whether or not you connect to the lyrics.

From a business standpoint, it makes since: the song has sold well without even being a single thus far.

Kris Allen news – Breaking news for all Kris fans: he is going to be the father to a baby boy! The season 8 champ, who has spent some time lately at SXSW, revealed the news in an interview with Hollywire (which you can see more of below):
