Over the past few weeks, the rumor mill has been churning out stories left and right when it comes to “Once Upon a Time,” in particular when it comes to the rumors that there will be a spin-off show coming up soon featuring the world of Wonderland. Executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz said recently that there were no plans to recast Sebastian Stan’s character of the Mad Hatter, despite him having a very busy schedule, and also that they were not necessarily looking to do a spin-off series in a traditional sense.
While we don’t have a full idea yet as to what exactly this means, E! News is reporting that the producers are currently casting a trio of roles for a project that would be filmed as a pilot next month:
Alice – This one should be a given considering the project that is being made. This Alice is in her twenties, and has been through quite a bit in life already.
Amahl – A man of Middle Eastern heritage who at first comes across rather calm and peaceful, but still has some sort of inner fire inside of him that pushes him to do more and more things.
The Knave – An adventurer who prefers to spend the vast majority of their time alone.
We would not be surprised if Kitsis and Horowitz are thinking about going the way of “American Horror Story,” and creating a sort of companion story to the flagship show that every year focuses on one of the other words. It’s a pretty cool idea, but the decline of ratings for “Once Upon a Time” recently may be an issue.
