‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 17: Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev in New York
Whose ready for a New York love story? Well, if you are hoping to see that, you probably want to go to Netflix and rent some romantic comedy. Thursday night’s new “Vampire Diaries” season 4 episode is going to focus on what happens next for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) following the cheerleading fiasco, and the setting has moved all the way up to the Big Apple.
So what’s the reason for the change? The easy answer to this question is that the two characters went there largely so that Ian Somerhalder’s character can try to find a way to get her under control. Just from the standpoint of temptation alone, it is already clear that NYC is a pretty bad place: there is so much life, as Damon says, that many deaths go unnoticed. (It’s also apparently a place where Nina Dobrev has to read a pretty awkward line about “doing it” on a roof.)
Of course, Stefan and even Klaus are already expressing some doubt as to whether or not this is going to work to do anything, at least other than causing more pain for everyone involved. At the moment, there’s really no way to answer this other than a “who knows,” since Elena is in a place now where can do whatever she wants. The promo below sadly makes no mention of what happened between Klaus and Hayley, or what is going to happen to Caroline moving forward now that she knows that Tyler Lockwood is not exactly planning to come back to Mystic Falls.
