‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Robert Carlyle dishes on Belle’s future

Emilie de Ravin

For fans of the Belle / Rumpelstiltskin pairing on “Once Upon a Time,” the past few episodes are hardly something to be rather excited about. After all, we still have yet to see any sort of tangible evidence that Belle is starting to remember anything about what happened between herself and her one-time love in the past, and she has at times also reacted out of anger towards him.

But is it possible that we are starting to see some element of change between the two? Sure. As Robert Carlyle explains in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, there was something in the last tearful message that he left her that could cause things to start to take an upward swing for the two in the near future:

“Something that does come out of that is that the phone call he makes to her when he’s dying; she thinks there must be something true there. He actually visits her in hospital and says, ‘Look, I know you don’t have any memory of me, but my feelings for you are true.’ And she says [that she] could tell.’ So we start to go on that journey.”

Unfortunately, we know already that things are not exactly going to be easy for these two as we prepare to meet Lacey … the alternative personality to Belle that is not nearly as nice or as kind-hearted as she was. Think of her more as the Claire from the latter part of “Lost” to the one that we saw during the early seasons. We don’t know too much else about her, except that there is apparently one episode coming up that is really all about what this personality change could mean.

Are you rooting for these two? If you want to see what Lana Parrilla has to say about the extent of Regina’s evil on “Once Upon a Time,” you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
