‘Bates Motel’ preview: Check out the first 6 minutes
A&E has had some pretty great success this year with juggernaut “Duck Dynasty” (which is beating the heck out of every show on cable in ratings at the moment), but the network is ready to shake things up and try their hand at something a little creepier, something that’s edgy, something that is a classic.
Almost everyone on the planet has watched or at least knows of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film “Psycho” and now A&E will be bringing Norman Bates to the small screen in March in a new series called “Bates Motel”. The new A&E series will not focus on Norman Bates as an adult, rather he will be a teenager and we will have a chance to see what happened to this young boy to mold him into the killer he becomes. His story starts off with the death of his father, which affected both Norman and his mother is a very different and significant ways, so in order to try and give Norman a better chance to move forward she buys a motel and moves them into it, hoping that the change of space and pace will give Norman a different perspective on life.
The network has been promoting the show like crazy and it looks like it’s easily going to be a winner, especially with the cast involved, but like any adaptation there will always be those few that will not not want to give it a chance just in case it doesn’t live up to Hitchcock standards. A&E has released the first 6 minutes of the series premiere to give potential new viewers an opportunity to see what the show is all about and start to get excited for it. After watching the first six minutes we can honestly say that there hasn’t been another new show that we have been more excited about this year – Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga are perfect as Norma and Norman Bates, bringing just enough creep factor to the project to give us the willies, but not going over board which could be very easy to do with this type of material.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the first 6 minutes of “Bates Motel” and you are interested to see what the new series has to offer then be sure to check it out be low and tell us if you will be tuning in on Monday, March 18 at 10 p.m.
