‘Saturday Night Live’: Melissa McCarthy to reportedly return for April 6 show
After struggling for much of this year with the likes of Adam Levine, Jennifer Lawrence, Justin Bieber, and surprisingly even Kevin Hart as hosts, “Saturday Night Live” seems to be committing most of their spring programming to people who they know will get the job done. We recently shared the first promo from this weekend’s edition featuring longtime MVP Justin Timberlake, and there are now reports surfacing that Melissa McCarthy is also coming back to take the reigns following a well-received episode from October 2011.
According to Us Weekly, the “Mike & Molly” and “Identify Thief” star will take on the April 6 show, which for the time being does not have a musical guest attached to it. McCarthy played a number of wacky characters during her show, including a part in “The Lawrence Welk Show” along with a woman who became extremely attached to Jason Sudeikis.
NBC has yet to confirm the report, but if this turns out to be true it will be quite a coup for them. McCarthy has proven herself to be a draw both on the big screen and TV, and there’s nothing viewers love more than a show hosted by someone who they already know to be good at their job. This is why Timberlake’s episodes have consistently been some of the strongest on record, and it is also why such stars as Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin are asked back to take part time and time again.
Do you think McCarthy is one of those hosts who would be even funnier the next time around, or do you imagine that many of her talents have already been showcased already? If you do want to see even more from the show, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
