‘Shark Tank’ season 4 gets extended yet again, adds another episode

Shark TankAmerica just cannot get enough of “Shark Tank,” at least when it comes to the newest data coming in now. According to a brand-new report from TVLine, the business competition (and closest thing to the American Dream that we have on TV right now) has seen its episode order extended by ABC all the way up to an impressive 26 hours. This makes the show the longest-running primetime series of the year (excluding news magazines) when it comes to the overall episode count. Luckily, the good news is that it is much quicker to film new episodes of this show than it does, for example, an hour of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

So what has caused “Shark Tank” to balloon out of control in the ratings this year? The #1 thing that you have to thank first and foremost is the simple fact that more and more viewers have started to take notice of the show, which airs on a night in Fridays that often sees itself ignored. Adding Mark Cuban in season 3 was a stroke of genius when it comes to bringing in a face that is already familiar to viewers, and since that time many of the other stars, including Daymond John and Barbara Corcoran, have also become key players in the media.

The popularity of the show has extended to other properties, as well: the show was spoofed recently on “Saturday Night Live,” and the likes of Kevin O’Leary and Cuban have been featured on everything from TMZ to major business websites. (They also are probably pitched stuff on a near-hourly basis walking around in their daily lives.)
