NBC’s ‘Parenthood’: Alum Jason Ritter goes from Lauren Graham to Alexis Biedel

Well, how’s this for a pretty awkward story pertaining to “Gilmore Girls”? If you are a massive fan of “Parenthood,” then you are probably already very familiar with the fact that Jason Ritter spent a substantial amount of time trying to romance Lauren Graham’s Sarah before she ultimately made the decision to be single during the season 4 finale.

So what makes this so interesting now? The fact that Ritter may be moving on to a new pilot over on Fox … and he will be romancing Graham’s former TV daughter in Alexis Biedel. Sources confirm that Ritter (whose credits also include the short-lived series “The Event”) is set to star in the pilot entitled “Friends and Family,” and that Biedel will be playing the role of Stacey, a love interest for his character. She is described as strong-willed and tough, and it will be interesting to see just what sort of chemistry there is.

So if this was still “Gilmore Girls,” the idea of one actor dating both mother and daughter would be a little bit creepy, to say the least; however, this is TV land, and there have been stranger things that have unfolded. We are largely just happy to see that Biedel has landed a new role for herself so quickly after being a revelation during season 5 of “Mad Men.” (This also means that Biedel may not be much of a force on the AMC show in the future, but that was pretty much expected given what happened with her character and Pete during last year’s finale.)
